Our projects
Specialized Heavy Lifting Across Southern & Sub-Saharan Africa
Transformer Installations
South Africa | Mauritius | Botswana | Power Infrastructure
Rigger Force executed multiple high-capacity transformer installations across Southern Africa, including projects in South Africa, Mauritius, and Botswana. Each installation required precise load calculations, controlled jacking and sliding operations, and coordinated crane placement within operational power facilities. These projects demanded strict safety compliance, accurate lift studies, and careful positioning to protect surrounding infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted commissioning.
Scope: Heavy Lift | Jacking & Sliding | Power Sector | Cross-Border Deployment
Heat Exchanger Installation
Sasol Secunda | Petrochemical Industry
Rigger Force was engaged for the precision installation of a heat exchanger within the Sasol Secunda petrochemical facility. The operation required detailed lift planning, controlled positioning, and strict adherence to safety and operational protocols within a live industrial environment. Working within tight clearances and high-risk conditions, the team executed the lift with calculated accuracy, ensuring safe placement and seamless integration into the plant infrastructure.
Scope: Heavy Lift | Petrochemical Sector | Precision Positioning | Industrial Rigging
Historic Locomotive Repositioning – “Blackie”
Cape Town Station | Heritage Infrastructure
Rigger Force was engaged to reposition South Africa’s historic first locomotive, “Blackie,” at Cape Town Station following major structural renovations during the Soccer World Cup upgrades. After being removed by crane and low-bed transport, the locomotive could not be returned to its original resting position using conventional lifting methods due to cost and site constraints.
Using a custom-engineered jacking and sliding system, the team carefully maneuvered and reinstated the locomotive into its designated position without damaging a single tile within the station structure. The operation required controlled load transfer, precise alignment, and meticulous execution within a sensitive public heritage environment.
Scope: Jacking & Sliding | Heritage Asset Protection | Precision Load Control | Structural Reinstatement
Derailed Train Recovery – Tandem Lift
Northern Cape | Rail Infrastructure
Rigger Force was called upon to assist in the recovery of a derailed locomotive in the Northern Cape. The operation required a synchronized tandem lift using two of the largest mobile hydraulic cranes operating in South Africa. Both cranes lifted and stabilized the load simultaneously, ensuring controlled load distribution and precise alignment during repositioning.
Tandem lifting of this magnitude demands accurate lift studies, coordinated communication, and strict load-sharing calculations to prevent structural stress or imbalance. The recovery was executed safely and efficiently, restoring the rail asset to its designated position.
Scope: Tandem Lift | Rail Recovery | Heavy Hydraulic Cranes | Emergency Response
Bridge Construction Support
Infrastructure Projects | Southern Africa
Rigger Force has provided specialized rigging services and equipment support for multiple bridge construction projects across Southern Africa. These operations involved the controlled lifting and positioning of structural components, including beams and heavy steel assemblies, under strict safety and alignment requirements.
Working alongside civil contractors and engineers, the team supplied precision rigging equipment and managed load control during critical placement stages. Each project required calculated lift planning, stable support systems, and coordinated execution to ensure structural integrity during installation.
Scope: Structural Steel Lifting | Bridge Beam Placement | Civil Infrastructure Support | Equipment Supply
Pumping Barge Salvage – 45 Ton Recovery
Matla Power Station | Industrial Marine Recovery
Rigger Force was commissioned to recover a 45-ton pumping barge that had sunk beneath the water at Matla Power Station. The salvage operation required controlled underwater recovery using specialized lifting bags, high-capacity winches, and compressed air systems to safely raise the asset without structural damage.
The recovery demanded calculated buoyancy control, synchronized lift coordination, and careful monitoring of load stability during ascent. Through engineered planning and controlled execution, the barge was successfully brought to surface and repositioned for further handling.
Scope: Underwater Salvage | Buoyancy Lift Systems | Industrial Recovery | Heavy Asset Retrieval
